Personal invitation to the wedding of the gaon Rabbi Chaim Zeev Finkel, sent by him to the gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yudkovski, Adar I 1929. Printed paper with handwritten supplement by the gaon Rabbi Chaim Zeev Finkel.
"It is my greatest pleasure to invite his loftiness to take part in the joy of my gladness, the festivity of my marriage - my soul desired my chosen one, the maiden Miss Leah ... and I will be beholden if he would visit us in grace, in kindness and in prayer."
The gaon's signature appears in print in the margins of the invitation. With the written supplement in his handwriting.
The gaon Rabbi Chaim Zeev Finkel [1904-1965] was the son of Rabbi Eliezer Yehudah Finkel, rosh yeshivah of Mir. The Heichal HaTalmud yeshivah was established in Tel Aviv in Cheshvan 1930, under the Alter of Slabodka's initiative. Rabbi Chaim Zeev Finkel was one of the rosh yeshivahs. He was initially appointed a lecturer, and over the years his influence increased and he became its rosh yeshivah and principal. He simultaneously served as rosh yeshivah of the Pleitat Sofrim yeshivah for youths who immigrated from Europe during WWII. From 1954 until his passing, he served as mashgiach and spiritual director of the Mir yeshivah.
