Netivot Emet, London 1846, Only Edition

Netivot Emet - 'to defend the Talmudic sages, to show the peoples and ministers that their words are correct, that no injustice be done to them, and that all their destroyers not succeed in bringing a downfall to the Talmud." The book was written as a response to the book Netivot Olam which was written by a Christian missionary named McCall who attempted to undermine the Talmud. London, 1846, Only edition. Hebrew with English translation.

The full version of the book was never printed. This is the only edition ever printed, containing the first part of the book.

Rabbi Yehudah Yudel Middleman was born in Lvov c. 1801. As an adult he moved to Warsaw, where he became close to the author of Shoel U'Meishiv (whom he mentions in the book). He immigrated to the United States and settled in New York, where he passed away in 1865.

Rare work. To the best of our knowledge, it has never appeared at auction.

23, VIII in the Hebrew part. [1] 43, III in the English part. 21 cm.

Fine-very fine condition, stains on the title page. New binding.
