Nefesh HaChaim. Vilna, 1837. Second Edition.

Nefesh HaChaim, mussar, kabbalah and thought in the profound depths of Judaism by Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, primary disciple of the GR"A of Vilna. Second edition, edited by his son, Rabbi Yitzchak. Vilna, 1837.

The format of all later editions of this work was designated by this one. The author added many glosses that were not included in the first edition and changed some words so as not to insult some factions. This is one of the fundamental works that fashion the Torah worldview of the Lithuanian yeshivah world.

126 pages. 22.5 cm. Not bound. Tears to borders of title page and margins of first leaves. Moderate-fine condition.
