Rechov HaYehudim B'Vilna. 65 photographs by Moshe Vorobeichic [Reviv], with a foreword by Zalman Shneur. Zurich-Leipzig, 1929-1931.
Reviv's first photography book, in which he integrated the techniques of montage and photomontage by integrating light and shadow and low photographic angles, for which he became famous. These unique photographs depict Jewish life in Vilna between the two World Wars. Among the photographs, he documented Jewish architecture, Jewish business life, Jewish figures in the synagogue courtyard, the kloiz, the GR"A's study hall, and more. Some of the photographs appearing here for the first time became famous as precious assets of Jewish heritage characterizing Vilna Jewry between the two World Wars, and were much publicized in various places.
Moshe Reviv (1904-1995) was a painter and photographer outstanding in the field of photomontage. He was one of the founders of the artists' quarter in Safed. Reviv studied at the University of Vilna in the department of fine arts and architecture, in "Bauhaus" in Dessau, Germany, and in Paris at Ecole de Photo Ciné.
