Slobodka Yeshivah - Class Photograph on a Postcard. Kovno, 1922
Group class photograph with the heads and students of the holy Knesset Yisrael yeshivah in Slobodka-Kovno, 1922. 'Shlit"a' is written next to each of the names of the heads of the yeshivah. This is a rare and early photograph which was published in the lifetimes of all of the heads of the yeshivah.
In the center: the rosh yeshivah Rabbi Natan Tzvi Finkel 'Shlit"a' next to Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, 'Shlit"a.' Under them are Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Sher 'Shlit"a,' Rabbi Avraham Rozovsky, 'Shlit"a,' and Rabbi David Tzvi Heller, 'Shlit"a.'
Among the students photographed are some who themselves eventually became famous rabbinic leaders and Torah disseminators. The yeshivah building appears on the lower right, and study books and the name of the publisher, "Hadran Studio, Kovno" are on the left.
9x14 cm, divided on the back for use as a postcard (not sent in the mail), slight tear on the upper left, fine condition.
