BERTHIER LOUIS-ALEXANDRE: (1753-1815) Marshal of France, Prince of Neuchatel. Chief of Staff under Napoleon. Two good documents signed by Marshal Berthier. A good and interesting L.S., Alexandre, two pages, 4to, Paris, 24th December 1811, to Marshal Soult, in French. Berthier forwards the Emperor orders, instructing to march with infantry and cavalry towards Burgos stating `..take two canons in case we would need them on the way to Burgos; you will add all the cavalry and artillery soldiers without horses..´ With blank integral leaf. Together with a L.S., `Alexandre´ by Berthier, two pages, Paris, 24th December 1811, being the full detail of the Emperor´s orders, including orders to Commandants, way of marching, composition of the military divisions, etc… A very interesting military document. Overall age wear, with few stains and tears to the edges. Also including an analytic bulletin of Marshal Soult resuming Berthier´s orders.
