The Ottomal Postal Service – an Interesting Envelope from Beit Lechem to the USA via Jerusalem – Postmark of Beit Lechem and Rare Postmark of Jerusalem, 1913 – an Error in the Postmark and the Envelope seemingly Reached Jerusalem before it was Sent from Beit Lechem
Rare postmark of Jerusalem: OCTAG 4 PM24
An envelope that a tourist sent from Beit Lechem to the USA by the Ottoman postal service on 9.4.1913. The envelope was sent via Jerusalem, where it was postmarked on 10.3.1913 – a month before it was actually sent. The reason is of course an error in the postmark of Beit Lechem – which was supposed to be 9.3.1913 and not 9.4.1913.
