A Unique Item – Ticket of a Bank Deposit from Theresienstadt Ghetto – Additional Evidence of the Germans' Great Performance of the "Model Ghetto" – Extremely Rare
The ticket before us like the postage stamps and banknotes from Theresienstadt Ghetto were part of the Germans' great performance of the "Model Ghetto". The ghetto had a bank which issued worthless banknotes with Moses' figure holding the Tablets of the law, on which "Thou shall not murder" was written, which could buy nothing. The post office issued worthless postage stamps, to glue on post that was never sent. Behind this deceit, the Jews were constantly being sent eastward: to Auschwitz.
On the ticket appear a name, numbers and a stamp of "Deposit" from 10.4.1945, about a month before the control of the ghetto was transferred to the Red Cross.
Condition: Good. A fold in the middle. Wear. An inscription and stamp.
