Proclamation by Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman against Participation in the Elections for the 'Va'ad Leumi' [National Council] in Jerusalem – [1935]
In 1935, there was a public dispute in Jerusalem concerning the nature of its communities and joining the National Council.
A private letter written by Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman to his friend Rabbi David Potash of Tel Aviv was published to the public. In the letter, Rabbi Elchanan wrote sharp words against the suggestion to join the National Council.
Before us are two original proclamations regarding the aforementioned controversy:
The original proclamation which published what Rabbi Elchanan had written in the letter to Tabbi Potash.
A proclamation that was published by Rabbi David Baharan, one of the geniuses of Jerusalem, supporting Rabbi Elchanan's letter. Among others, Rabbi Baharan praises Rabbi Elchanan, citing things he had heard from the "Chafetz Chaim".
Condition: Good. Folding marks. Tears.
