Large, Important Archive of the Jewish Community of Lvov, with Signed Certificates of Various Associations and Movements that were Active There before the Holocaust – from the Collection of the Cantor Yitzchak Hillman
Dozens of letters, documents, press articles and more from the archive of the cantor Yitzchak Hillman, a member of the Jewish community of Lvov. A large, rare collection documenting the cultural and Zionist life of the glorified Jewish community of Lvov. Before the Holocaust, the Jewish community of Lvov was the third in size among the Jewish communities of Poland, after Warsaw and Lodz, with more than 100,000 Jews.
Several years later, during the years 1942-1943, most of the Jews of Lvov were murdered, among them important public figures whose signatures appear on the documents before us. Only a few of the members of the Jewish community of Lvov survived the Holocaust.
Yitzchak Hillman was a well-known cantor in Lvov. During the 1930's he was the leader of a choir that was invoted also to official events of the community.
"Mini Dan" [the song of the Acre prisoners, in memory of Trumpeldor and the heroes of Tel Chai], the hymn of "Beit Ha'Chayal". Printed in Europe during the 1930's. 4 pp. includes musical notes, extremely rare.
