"The fifth cup of the Passover seder is sourced on an early custom from the time of the Second Holy Temple. Traces of this early custom are found in the Mishnah and Breita of the Babylonian Talmud and Gaonic literature ... therefore, we titled this haggadah the "Haggadah of the Fifth Cup." We decided to revive this early custom that has existed since the Second Temple era, and add a fifth cup to the Passover seder, due to the tidings of the redemption of the land. As we were promised by the Creator through the mouth of Moses when they were still in Egypt, as it says, "and I will bring you to the Land - and I will give it to you as an inheritance, I am Hash-m."
