Ateret Shlomo. Rectification for Agunahs. Budapest, 1945

Ateret Shlomo. Rectification for agunahs from the [first] World War, by Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Klein, rabbi of Szilagycseh, with additions by his son, Rabbi Yekutiel Klein. Budapest, 1945.

Specifications: 85 pages. 20 cm. Jacket cover.

Background: This work deals with releasing agunahs in the wake of WWI. The author's son first printed the book after the Holocaust, when inquiries of agunahs arose again. In the introduction, the son writes a biography of his father, who was rabbi of Szilagycseh from the age of 18[!] for sixty years. At the end, the printer added "a recommendation from the author's son" in which he turns to rabbinical leaders, pointing out many differences between the situation after WWI and the situation after WWII. He also discusses what happened in the "labor camps" and what is happening with the few survivors. Addresses for sending comments are included on the reverse of the title page. (Author and journalist David Giladi was Shlomo Zalman Klein's son, and he resided in the Land of Israel during the war. David Giladi's daughter is Shulamit Lapid, widow of Yosef Tommy Lapid and mother of MK Yair Lapid).

Condition: Very fine.
