Large Impressive Case for Meggilat Esther, Silver. Central Europe, Early 20th Century
Large impressive case for a scroll of Esther - silver stamped 835 [on each separate part]. Relief and etched work. Central Europe, early 20th century.
Case made of three sections which come apart - the body of the case, the handle and a crown for the top. A scene depicting Ahasuerus proffering the scepter to Esther in the king's royal chamber is on the body of the case, with geometric and floral decoration above and below. The crown on top is sawed and hammered work, with floral pattern engraving. The handle in in leaf patterns.
