Etching depicting Jeremiah the prophet bewailing the destruction of Jerusalem. With the inscription מי יתן ראשי מים, ועיני מקור דמעה. ואבכה יומם ולילה את חללי בת עמי (ירמיהו) [If only my head were water and my eyes a spring of tears, so that I could cry all day and all night for the slain of the daughter of my people (Jeremiah)] under it. Signed Saul Rabino.
Description: Engraving 36x22 cm. Placed in a frame 53x36 cm.
Saul Rabino 1892-1969 was a Jewish artist who lived and worked in the United States. The creation before us is one of his important works.
Condition: Very fine, except for a small hole in the center of the leaf.
