Manuscript of part of the sefer Sdei Chemed. Written in two different Sephardic hands, with numerous marginal corrections in the handwriting of the Sdei Chemed.
This manuscript consists of a portion of Ma’areches Aleph (12 pages), concerning Kashrus matters, and a portion of Ma’areches Daled (9 pages). With mention of R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch (Tzemach Tzedek), R. Binyomin Zakheim of Yekaterinoslav, R. Yosef Zechariah Stern of Shavel (Zecher Yehosef), R. Shlomo Ha’Cohen of Vilna (Binyan Shlomo), R. Yisroel Chaim Deitches (Imrei Yosher) and R. Yitzchak Shlomo Yoel of Rovna.
All of these additions and corrections were later published in K’lal Yud Aleph.
R. Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini (1832-1905), was born in Yerusholayim and studied under R. Yitzchok Kobo and R. Yosef Nissim Burlo. Orphaned of his father at a young age, he traveled to Constantinople where he taught Torah and served as a Dayan. He later served as Rav in Krasov eventually returning to Eretz Yisroel where he became the Chief Rabbi of Chevron. Renowned as a phenomenal Talmid Chochom and a great Tzaddik. His Magnum Opus, Sdei Chemed a compendium of Talmudic principles, received great acclaim and remains a classic work of Talmudic literature.
