HISTORIC ARCHIVE. UNPUBLISHED. R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky/ R. Yechezkel Abramsky/ R. Shlomo Dovid Kahana. Large Archive of Unpublished Responsa on the Laws of Gittin. 1939.
Long unpublished responsum handwritten and signed twice by R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, regarding a case of a Get sent from Havana Cuba to Melbourne, where only one witness had signed and which if found posul would leave the wife an Aguna. Autograph responsa from R. Yechezkel Abramsky on the matter, written when he was the Chief Rabbi of London, and R. Shlomo Dovid Kahan of Warsaw.
Lot includes:
• Autograph seemingly unprinted Teshuva by R. Chaim Ozer to R. Yosef Gurewicz of Melbourne. Dated August 1939, one month the before beginning of the War. Signed twice by R. Chaim Ozer. With original envelope.
• Autograph Teshuva by R. Yechezkel Abramsky to R. Yosef Gurewicz of Melbourne.
• Autograph Teshuva by R. Shlomo Dovid Kahan of Warsaw to R. Yosef Gurewicz of Melbourne.
• Transcripts of the letters sent by R. Yosef Gurewicz to R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, R. Yechezkel Abramsky and R. Shlomo Dovid Kahan. As well as transcripts sent to R. Yitzchok Isaac Herzog.
• Seven pages of handwritten transcripts of letters sent by R. Gurewicz to R. Tzvi Kaplan of Havana Cuba, and 2 pages of R. Kaplan’s responses.
The Get in question was seemingly sent from Havana Cuba to Melbourne Australia. The Rav in Australia, seeing there was only one witness sent the Halachic question to R. Chaim Ozer, R. Abramsky and R. Shlomo Dovid Kahan who were world renowned in addition to being great Torah leaders, for their particular expertise in Gittin. This historic archive of responsa which traversed the world, was recently discovered and is seemingly unprinted.
Varying in size. All in very fine condition.
