Large printed letter in Yiddish and Hebrew issued by the committee of “Shomrei Ha’Chomos”, in order to raise money for the local Bikur Cholim. Signed and stamped by various distinguished signatories including R. Shimon Deitsch.
R. Shimon Deitsch (1814-1878), was born in Rudnitz and was one of the most distinguished students of the Chasam Sofer. Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, from a young age he was devoted to help the fledging old Yishuv. In 1842 he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel settling in Yerusholayim, where he was one of the founders of Kollel Shomrei Ha’Chomos (Ungarisher Kollel).
Brother of R. Dovid Deitsch (Goren Dovid).
