R. Yechezkel Abramsky/ Letter Regarding the Chazon Ish. Yerusholayim 1953.
Interesting autograph letter in English by R. Yechezkel Abramsky on behalf of the nephew of the Chazon Ish to The Board of Deputies in Johannesburg South Africa.
R. Abramsky writes “I am convinced that the name and the great influence of the late Gaon “Chazon Ish” is well known to you. Since he passed away 6 weeks ago, a Chazon Ish Memorial Fund has been established to continue the upkeep of the numerous Torah institutions maintained chiefly through his influence and personal intervention. The committee has persuaded his nephew, Rabbi Karelitz to go to South Africa for this most deserving purpose-to continue the great work and perpetuate the memory of the Chazon Ish ZT”L and I trust that you and your board will view this matter as an exceptional case deserving your keenest interest and most sensitive support and I am sure you will give Rabbi Karelitz every possible advice and assistance”.
R. Yechezkel Abramsky (1886-1976), was a student of Yeshivos Telz, Mir, Slabodka, and studied under R. Chaim of Brisk. World famous as a renowned Gaon, he served as Rav of Slutzk, Rosh Beth Din in London and then settled in Eretz Yisroel, where he was Rosh Yeshiva of the Slabodka Yeshiva in Bnai Brak. Author of Chazon Yechezkel on the Tosephta.
