Mi'mamakim. R. Ephraim Oshry. Inscribed Copy. 1963.
Heartrending Halachic questions that arose during the Holocaust that were posed between the years 1941-1945 to R. Avrohom Duber Kahana-Shapiro, the Kovno Rov and R. Ephraim Oshry. With a handwritten inscription by R. Oshry.
R. Ephraim Oshry (1914-2003), was born in Kupishuk, Lithuania and learned in the great Yeshivos of Kelm, Ponevezh and Slabodka. In 1934, he received Semicha from R. Avrohom Duber Kahana Shapiro and R. Leib Rubin of Wilkomir among others and served as a Rav in Slabodka. During The War, Rav Oshry stayed in the Kovno Ghetto and served as an assistant to the Kovno Rov. With the Kovno Rov ailing, many of the questions that arose were posed to R. Oshry, and his responsa, along with many by the Kovno Rav, were published after The War under the title Mi’mamakim.
This heartrending sefer is an example of dedication to Torah even in the most trying of times.
