Two medals with the tetragrammaton. 17th century.
1. Medal commemorating 100 years since the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. [Saxony], 1617.
Obverse: Frederick III, Elector of Saxony, and Martin Luther, across from each other at a table with an open book. Above them is the tetragrammaton inside a rising sun and a Latin legend. Reverse: a furnace and a snake wound around a staff and the inscription "Egyptus et Israel" [Egypt and Israel], and another legend.
Diameter: 41 mm. Fair condition. Defective minting.
2. Silver medal, presumably minted for the new year. [Saxony?], 1626.
Obverse: the Earth, from which two hands emerge, one holding a sword and the other a spade. Above it is a book from which a third hand emerges, stretching upwards. Surrounding the image is the Latin legend "Perando Orando Laborando Consistit". Reverse: the tetragrammaton inside a rising sun and a German legend.
Diameter: 40 mm.
