Box – "Sha'alu Shlom Yerushalayim" – Bezalel
Box decorated with a Menorah and Stars of David, made at Bezalel, Jerusalem, [first decades of the 20th century].
Etched brass, signed: "Bezalel Yerushalem". Wood.
The lid is decorated with tall seven-branched menorah flanked by a pair of lions, Stars of David and vegetal patterns. A verse is engraved on the margins of the lid: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. They shall prosper that love thee …" (Hebrew). The side panels are decorated with vegetal patterns, jars, lions and Stars of David.
18.5X10.5X4.5 cm. Good condition. Bends. Some stains. Corrosion.
