The books in the series "The World in Miniature" concerned different countries throughout the world, and were accompanied by numerous engravings. The present item contains the series' six parts on the history of the Ottoman Empire, the life of its citizens, their dress and their customs, with 73 hand-colored engravings presenting upwards of one hundred and fifty costumes. One engraving shows a Jew of the Ottoman Empire. Some of the engravings are captioned in French.
Six parts in three volumes. Volume 1 (parts 1-2): [1] leaf, XV, 211 pp + [2] plates; [1] leaf, 237 pp + [2] plates. Volume 2 (parts 3-4): [1] leaf, 264 pp + [16] plates; [1] leaf, 300 pp + [17] plates. Volume 3 (parts 5-6): [1] leaf, 234 pp + [9] plates; [1] leaf, 244 pp + [27] plates. 14 cm. Gilt edges.
