57 postcards, most of them real-photo postcards, portraying cities, sites, visits of personalities and events in Palestine. Postcards published by Eliyahu Brothers and postcards with no publisher's name, Palestine, 1920s.
In the collection: • Postcards, most of them real-photo postcards, portraying streets and buildings in young Tel-Aviv as well as visits of personalities and various events in the city. Among them: first power station in Tel-Aviv, the Silicate brick factory, funeral of Max Nordau, International Workers' Day celebrations, visit of Albert Einstein, visit of Baron Rothschild, visit of Lord Balfour (three postcards, titled in the plate and stamped on the back with photographer's ink-stamp: "Zalmoniya H. Nitzevitch"), visit of Herbert Samuel, funeral of victims of the 1929 riots (titled and signed in the plate: "Bezalel foto-studio") and more. • Real-photo postcards portraying scenes from immigration to and settlement in Palestine – immigrants on deck of a ship, paving a road in Nahalal, work in a quarry, winery in Rishon LeZion and more. • Real-photo postcards depicting the Hebrew University inauguration ceremony and one postcard depicting the university buildings. • Postcards depicting sites in Jerusalem (among them the Western Wall, Temple Mount, Valley of Josaphat and more), Haifa, Tiberias, Jaffa and more.
36 of the postcards are titled by hand on the back.
Average size: 9X14 cm. Good condition. Stains. Minor blemishes to margins of postcards. Creases. One postcard appears in two copies.
