63 "Shanah Tovah" postcards and greeting cards about Aliya to Palestine. Palestine, Russia, Poland, Germany, Iran and other locations. Late 19th century through 1990s.
In the collection: • Undivided "Shanah Tovah" postcard from "Bnay Zion" society, Nikolaev, [1899]. • Eight "Shanah Tovah" postcards with portraits of the senders and views from immigration (Aliya) to Palestine and settling there; three depict the port of Tel-Aviv. 1934-1939. • "Shanah Tovah" postcard titled "from training to Aliya" (Hebrew), published by "Keren HaChalutz HaMizrahi" in Poland. 1935. • "Shanah Tovah" postcard issued by "Poale Agudat Israel in Germany", [1948]. • "Shanah Tovah" greeting cards, including cards with greetings on the subjects of Aliya, gathering of Israel and building the country, among them cards with illustrations and photographs of immigrant ships, cards depicting the port of Tel-Aviv and the sign "Sha'ar Zion" posted there, and cards depicting transit-camps and tent camps [Palestine, 1940s-50s]. • Two "Shanah Tovah" postcards with photographs of immigrants (Olim); printed for Dr. Leon Rosenberg from "Beth El" missionary in California. Sent from Israel. [Israel 1948/1949]. • "Shanah Tovah" greeting card from Joseph M. Ness, director of the Jewish Agency Aliya department in Persia. Iran, [1961]. • And more.
Size and condition vary. Good overall condition. Numerous postcards and greeting cards were used.
