Folder with forty-nine large plates (approx. 76X57 cm) showing the results of the second expedition of the Palestine Exploration Fund headed by Charles Warren, in the years 1867-1870. The plates show various plans, elevations and sections: the excavations near the Temple Mount walls (including the Western Wall); Robinson's Arch and Wilson's Arch; gates and passages revealed near the Ophel Wall; Warren's Shaft in the City of David; dozens of jars, vessels and shards; and more.
Each print is signed in the plate by the head of the expedition, Charles Warren. The prints are accompanied by a title page with names of seven authors and the contents. Housed in the original folder; with a gilt embossing of the title, a Jerusalem Cross, and the year 1884.
L plates (title page and 49 plates of plans), approx. 76X57 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, blemishes and small tears (mostly at margins). Folder: approx. 78X58.5 cm, rubbed, with tears and blemishes (some restored). Two fastening strings are lacking.
