Copy of an old polemic letter - signed by the leading rabbis of Safed.
The letter was addressed to Rabbi David Segal, an agent of Yeshivat Torat Eretz Israel (a large yeshiva that was active in Safed in the 19th century), who heard and feared in their hearts that Rabbi Yosef Kanowitz forced his honor to give the government the treasury of the houses that the governors donated to the institution, And after the his honor has removed himself from being an agent, we can not believe that the institution will last for three months, and that the Rebbe's intention is not to teach them anything. The whole approach of the RYK (Rabbi Yosef Kanowitz) is to smuggle them one by one, and therefore they turn to the benefactors and homeowners who will not agree to this.
Some of the signed rabbis - Rabbi Menahem Mendel of Deesh, (Rabbi Menachem Mendel of the 18th century), the son of Rabbi Yechezkel Panet (the "Mar'os Yechezkel") was the second Admor of Deesh. Galicia, including the people of Sarbaya, including the community of Adas Yeshurun, including Maramarch-Ongarn, Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Meiri, Rabbi Ben Zion Yosef HaCohen of Katyn, Rabbi Avraham David of Eleazar and Rabbi Matityahu Kahane.
Size: 37.5X30.5 cm.
