"The Revival of the Hebrew Language" - Silver Coin Independence Day 1974, 26 of the State, 1974.
In 1879, Eliezer Ben-Yehuda published an article entitled "A Great Question," in which he called for settlement in Eretz Israel and for the revival of the Hebrew language and its use in daily life. Eliezer Ben-Yehuda immigrated to Israel two years later and devoted himself to the cultivation of Hebrew as a language of speech, with a strong tendency to innovate words: The home of the Ben Yehuda family was the first Hebrew-speaking home in modern-day Israel.
Ben-Yehuda's life's work is "the dictionary of the old and new Hebrew language."

Design: Rothschild and Lipman (Roly).
