Public Declaration by the British Mandate Government about Jewish - Arab Relations in the Land of Israel, and about Establishing a Jewish State. 1940s

Official notice with a 'Public Declaration of Policy by His Majesty's Government' - Palestine (Land of Israel). Official document from the British Mandate government detailing the principles guiding the administration with respect to Jewish-Arab relations, and the establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. C. 1940s. Stencil print.

Interesting document reflecting the mandate government's stance with respect to the fate of the Land of Israel and Jewish-Arab relations, a short time before the establishment of the state. In the document, the government expresses the great impression left by the growth of the Jewish settlement: Since the publication of the white paper in 1922 over three hundred thousand Jews have immigrated to Palestine ... the population of the national homeland has increased to approximately 450,000 ... the Jewish settlement has not missed the opportunities given it and has made full use of them to their full extent. The growth of the Jewish national homeland and its accomplishments in many fields are a wondrous constructive effort worthy of the admiration of the entire world.' ... It continues and presents the mandate government's stance as supporting a bi-national "Palestinian" state with equal participation of Jews and Arabs in the future government, without preference of one side over the other. There are also regulations limiting Jewish immigration over the next five years, and division of the territory of the Land of Israel between Jews and Arabs. [Of course, most of the regulations set out in this document did not take place in the end].

Seven leaves in stencil print. 35x22 cm. Some creases, fine condition.
