Rare First Edition: Sefer Ohr Hachaim, Rabbi Chaim Ben Attar, Venice 1742

Set of Ohr Hachaim on Chamisha Chumshei Torah from Rabbi Chaim ibn Attar in its rare first edition.
סגולה לשמירה, לרפואה ולזרע של קיימא
The sefer was published in 1742 by the Ohr Hachaim himself while passing through Italy on his way to Eretz Yisrael.
There are two title pages, one for each of the two sections. The first title page accidentally reads "Part Two," and already at the time of printing a small printed leaf with the words "Part One" was pasted over the mistake (See Ginzay Yisrael 624). Besides for these words, the two title pages are identical with an illustration of Moshe and Aharon and of David beheading Goliath
This rare first edition includes the entire Chamisha Chumshei Torah - beginning with Bereishis and ending with Devarim - along with the complete Ohr Hachaim commentary, the two title pages, and a publishing permit in Italian bound in the beginning of Part Two. Two pages of endorsements and the seder haftaros are missing.
Rabbi Chaim ibn Attar, author of Ohr Hachaim, was world renowned for his indescribable holiness and Divine spirit. This extraordinary sefer was embraced by all sects of Judaism and particularly by the Chassidic communities. Learning from this holy sefer is a known segula for protection, healing, and for children. Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin remarked that just as the Zohar was able to purify a soul, so too in our times, learning from this extraordinary sefer has the ability to purify one's soul.
