German legend: “Seinem VerehrtenLehrer zur Frdl. Erinnerung an Arnold Zadikow.” Unsigned, but almost certainly created by a close student of Zadikow.

(Munich, c. 1920’s).

A unique example.
A touching form of artistry: A medal of a medallic visionary made by a student to honor his teacher.
Born in Kolberg Ostseebad, (then Germany, today Poland), Arnold Zadikow (1884-1943) was a Jewish sculptor who worked in many media: silver, stone, glass and metals. Like Ludwig Gies, Zadikow trained in Munich and was a pupil of Heinrich Wadere. He settled in Prague but was later deported and murdered in Theresienstadt.
