     With tipped in publisher’s note following the title-page erroneously stating: “As you will note in the preface, we had it from reliable sources that the author, Janusz Korczak, a celebrated physician, teacher, and head of a Warsaw orphanage in pre-war Poland, was killed by the Gestapo during one of their mass murders…However, we have just received word from the Overseas News Agency that the Underground rescued him at the last moment, spiriting him away from the train and that he is alive today in Lublin…We were informed of this after the book was ready for distribution, and are happy to share this news with you.”
