Stamp on the title page: Library of Yisrael Friedman of Husiyatin.

The Admor Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiyatin [1857-1948] known as a holy man, was the elder Admor of the Ruzhin dynasty, and the last grandson of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. He succeeded his father as Admor of Husiyatin from 1894 and thousands of chassidim from Galicia flocked to him, including renowned rabbis from across Galicia. He immigrated to the Land of Israel in 1937 and settled in Tel Aviv. He was known as the elder of the Admors and as a holy man, and was revered by people of all sectors. Especially famous is his prayer at the grave of the 'Ohr HaChaim' when the Nazis were at the gateway to the Land of Israel. See also: Alfasi, Encyclopdia L'Chassidut II, 561-562.
