The Morocco Question – Composition about the Economic and Political Influence of European Nations in Morocco – References to Moroccan Jews – Teheran, 1888
The Morocco Question, in its True Light and Bearing by Mark de Moraville. Printed by Imperial Persian Printing Office, Teheran, [ca. 1888]. English.
The Morocco Question, a composition about the state of Morocco at the end of the 19th century, in particular the foreign protection which was then common (protection granted to exclusive representatives of the local population in Morocco, among them Jews, on behalf of diplomatic representatives of foreign governors who operated in Morocco), the influence of the involvement of foreign factors on the economy and development of Morocco and the steps to be taken in order to maintain the status of Morocco as an independent state.
Among others, the author discusses the status of Moroccan Jews and writes that from an economic point of view they lost from the foreign protection in the state.
In the introduction the author mentions that he was one of the first settlers in Morocco and that he does not live there at the time of writing this composition.
