Four guides to Palestine, for British Army soldiers. 1940s. English.
1. Haifa Guide. A guide tor the city of Haifa published by the advertising agencies "Carmel" and "Zura", sponsored by Haifa Jewish Hospitality Committee. Printed by Oth, Haifa, [late 1930s or 1940s]. The guide includes information about Haifa, addresses of different businesses, hotels, synagogues, churches and mosques, advertisements and more. At the end of the guide appears a folding map of the city.
26 pp (pp. 19-26 are printed on a folded sheet on the back of the map of Haifa), 16 cm.
2. Pocket Guide to Palestine, by Gail Hoffman. Published by Peltours, Azriel press, Jerusalem, [1940].
A detailed pocket guide to Palestine dealing with geography, trade and measurement systems, history, and more. It includes advertisements and useful information. Mentioned at the beginning of the guide is the fact that it was printed "As a greeting of welcome to members of His Majesty's Forces and the Second Australian Imperial Force now stationed in Palestine ".
