Letter from the Admor of Munkatch, Rabbi Baruch Yerachmiel Rabinowitz

Letter in the handwriting and with the signature of the Admor of Munkatch, Rabbi Baruch Yerachmiel Rabinowitz.

The Admor Baruch Yerachmiel Rabinowitz [1915 - 1998], served as Admor of Munkatch from 1937-1944. After the passing of his great father-in-law, he succeeded him as Av Beit Din of Munkatch in 1937 and despite his being very young - only 22 years old - he led this large community three years, until the outbreak of WWII. He suffered greatly during the war after he was expelled from Munkatch by the authorities (because he was a Polish citizen) and after many exiles and "reincarnations" (he was a rescue activist in Budapest, and from there he fled to the Land of Israel via Turkey and Lebanon). He was saved from the Holocaust and arrived in Jerusalem in 1944 with his whole family. (When he arrived, he managed to bring part of his large library of books and antique manuscripts, from the home of the Minchat Elazar and the Darkei Teshuva of Munkatch.) When they arrived in Jerusalem, his wife, Chaya Frumet, became ill and passed away after about a year, leaving five young orphans behind. [Two of his sons from his first wife are today the famous Admors of Munkatch and Dinov, shlit"a in the United States.]
