Thirteen photographs from Theodor Herzl's funeral procession in the Land of Israel when his coffin was brought to Israel as per his willed request. August 1949.
As per his request, Herzl's bones, as well as those of his parents and sister, were transferred from the Vienna cemetery to Jerusalem. After his coffin and those of his relatives were carried through the streets of Vienna, they were flown to Israel, and he was finally buried in Jerusalem on the mountain bearing his name, "Mount Herzl," in a state ceremony arranged by the military rabbinate with the participation of representatives from all of the country's communities. The photographs depict his coffin covered by an Israeli flag in the courtyard of the (Zionist) institution before it was taken for burial, a police motorcycle procession and the cars escorting the coffin, processions of the various military branches which escorted the coffin, the crowd of onlookers and more.
Size: 7x9 cm. Very fine condition.
