Rabbi Schneur Zalman [Fradkin] of Lublin: (1830 - 1902), also known as the Gaon of Lublin and the Torah of Chesed in the name of his book. Rabbi and posek of Chabad, was one of the greatest disciples of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, author of Tzemach Tzedek. In his youth, he served as rabbi of the Hasidic community in Dvinsk, and later became rabbi of Lublin for 28 years.

He immigrated to Jerusalem in 1892 and served as head of the Hasidim in Jerusalem until his death on 4 Sivan 1902. He has authored and printed other books in Jerusalem, but his only book printed abroad is the book before us, see about him: Encyclopedia of Hasidism, part three, column.

At the end of the book, before the keys, the author writes that because of his lack of financial means, he did not finish printing his book, and 26 years later, after his death, the additional part of the answers, which was before us, was printed.
