An important letter handwritten and signed by the Rebbe Rabbi Yitzchak Zelig Morgenstern of Kock to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and the directors of Agudat Yisrael of Jerusalem, 1925. Written on the Rebbe's official stationery.
An extremely rare item! Letters by him have never been seen in auctions [see also item no. 139].
The content of the letter: a request for help in finding a rabbinical position for his son-in-law Rabbi Nachum Mordechai Perlov the Rebbe of Novominsk.
The Rebbe of Kotz writes: "He [my son-in-law] does not intend to return to the darkness of the exile here. And now he really has nothing to return to since the oppression, torture and poverty increase every day. Therefore I ask your honor to do something for me and connect him to one of the positions of Agudat Yisrael there … since he is capable of anything, a scholar, scribe and linguist. In addition he is a faithful and reliable person …" His signature and stamp at the end of the letter.
It should be noted, that in 1927, Rabbi Nachum Mordechai Perlov author of 'Pe'er Nachum' emigrated to the USA, where he founded his Hassidic court. Eventually he was one of the greatest Rebbes and leaders of Agudat Yisrael in the USA.
Rabbi Yitzchal Zelig Morgenstern (1866-1940) was one of the greatest Rebbes of Poland, a member of Moetzet Gedolei Ha'Torah and a leader of the Jews of Poland before the Holocaust. He died a short while after the outbreak of the War.
He was the grandson of Rabbi Mendel of Kock an dthe son of the Rebbe of Filov. Since 1900 he was Av Beit din of Sokolov. He was one of the founders of the Union of Rabbis of Poland and served as its vice-president. Some of his Torah Novellae was printed in the book "She'erit Yitzchak" (1989).
The letter is written on the Rebbe's official stationery. 22 cm.
