Letter by the Rebbe of Jassy to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and a Letter of Condolence Subsequent to the Death of Rabbi Yosef Chaim – 1932
Two letters handwritten and signed by the Rebbe of Jassy Rabbi Avraham Yosef Yosskeh Guttesman. Written on his official stationery.
Letter handwritten and signed by the Rebbe of Jassy to the managers of the charity fund of the rabbis of Jerusalem "Headed by the great genius … Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld the head of the rabbis of Jerusalem". About his donations. Eight handwritten lines and his full signature.
A letter of condolence, from 1932, handwritten and signed by the Rebbe of Jassy to "The great rabbis of the charity fund of the rabbis of Jerusalem". In the letter, he writes, among others: "It is a shame about the death of the Tzaddik the great genius Rabbi Yosef Chaim and may God console the remnant of our Sages". Eight handwritten lines and his full signature.
The Rebbe Rabbi Rabbi Avraham Yosef Yosskeh Guttesman, author of 'Emunah Shlemah', of the Oserjany-Lashkevitz Hassidic dynasty (whose founder was Rabbi Meshulam Feibush Heller, author of 'Yosher Divrei Emet').
The Rebbe was born in 1877 in Polnad and was named after his grandfather Rabbi Yosef Yosskeh of Lashkevitz. In 1902 he became the rabbi of Brialy and in 1916 moved to Bucharest where he served as the Rebbe of Jassy. In 1922 he moved to the USA. He died in 1948 in New York. His son-in-law was the Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Beinush Auerbach.
