A Letter of Recommendation Handwritten and Signed by the Rebbe of Sochatchov Rabbi David Borenstein - Tomaszów 1925
A rare letter handwritten and signed by the Rebbe Rabbi David Borenstein of Sochatchov. The letter is addressed to the members of Agudat Yisrael of Jerusalem.
The letter is a letter of recommendation for a father and son who were members of Agudat Yisrael. The Rebbe asks to assist them wherever possible.
The letter is on the Rebbe's official stationery from the rime he was Av Beit Din of Tomaszów in 1925. Letters from this period of time are extremely rare.
Rabbi David Borenstein (1876-1942), the third Rebbe of Sochatchiv, was one of the leaders of the Jews of Poland until the Holocaust. He was known for his book "Chasdei David". His father was the author of "Shem Mi'Shmuel" and his grandfather, the "Avnei Nezer" of Sochatchov. When he was twenty, he was appointed the rabbi of Vishgorod, there he was the head of a large yeshiva. When his father died in 1926, he replaced him as Rebbe and became one of the most prominent Rebbes of Poland. He died in the Warsaw Ghetto. His wife and all their descendants were murdered by the Nazis.
