Letter by the Rebbe Rabbi Yisrael of Chortkov to his Hassidim in New York. Scribal script and the handwritten signature of the Rebbe. Vienna, 1929.

Rabbi Yisrael Friedman, the Rebbe of Chortkov (1854-1934) was the son of the Rebbe Rabbi David Noshe of Chortkov and the son-in-law of the Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Ya'akov of Sadigura – the sons of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. He was one of the founders of Agudat Yisrael and president of Moetzet Gedolei Ha'Torah. During World War I, his Hassidic court in Chrtkov was destroyed and he moved to Vienna.
