Religious Letter of Greeting by Rabbi Mordechai Rokeach of Belz on Behalf of His Brother the Rebbe Rabbi Aharon of Belz, with the Rebbe's Stamp – Tel Aviv, Hanukkah, 1945
The letter was sent to Rabbi Moshe Adler with greetings for his son's Bar Mitzvah.
The Rebbe of Biłgoraj, Rabbi Mordechai Rokeach (1901-1950), the son of the Rebbe Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz, who was beloved and admired by his father. It is told that once, the Rebbe went out to the many Hassidim who assembled at his door and told them: "Why are you forcing your way into my room, you could be saved by my son as well…"
In his youth, he was known as a genius with vast knowledge of the Torah and a sharp mind. After his father's death, he became the rabbi and Av Beit Din of Biłgoraj. During the Holocaust, he escaped to his brother the Rebbe and together they travelled from city to city until they arrived in Budapest and from there to the land of Israel on the 4th of Shevat 1944. He was an outstanding figure in the Land of Israel, helping his brother to reestablish the Belz Hassidism.
In 1946, after he found out that his wife and children perished in the Holocaust, he remarried yet died shortly afterwards. His only son from this marriage is the present Belzer Rebbe.
