Letter by Rabbi Yudel Rosenberg to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld – Montreal, 1926 – Extremely Rare
Letter handwritten and signed by the well-known rabbi, Rabbi Yudel Rosenberg Rosh Av Beit Din of Montreal, Canada, to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld Rosh Av Beit Din of Jerusalem. 1926.
Letters by Rabbi Yudel are extremely rare!
The content of the letter: an announcement regarding his donations to the Sha'ar Ha'Shamayim Yeshiva and to the charity fund of the rabbis of Ha'Edah Ha'Charedit. "I bless him with Gemar Chatima Tova and ripe old age and may we meet face-to-face soon". Signed: "Yudel Rosenberg … publisher of the holy Zohar with a copying in the Holy Tongue".
The letter is written on Rabbi Rosenberg's official stationery.
Rabbi Yudel Rosenberg (1860-1936) served as a Rabbi and Dayan of the communities of Terla, Lodz and Warsaw. His book on the Nedarim tractate became a basic book on the tractate and is still learned today in yeshivas. Rabbi Rosenberg published books of pseudo-epigraphic tales which were accepted by the public as the truth, or at least as ancient traditions. In contrast to what had been believed for many years that he had invented the miraculous story about the Golem of Prague, in recent years it has become clear that he had authentic sources according to which he wrote the story. Rabbi Rosenberg also published the Zohar with a Hebrew translation, a book which was approbated by the most prominent rabbis.
Condition: Good. Folding marks and stains.
