Jerusalemite Account Book with Interesting Inscriptions – Contains a List of the Payments and Debts of the Geniuses of Jerusalem – 1891 and Onwards
On the inner binding, it was written: "Belongs to my son Avraham … 1891. One of the leaves is signed: "Avraham Ya'akov ben Rabbi Moshe" [Kahanov?]
The leaves of the account book contain accounts, incomes and expenses related to the writer's work and trade of food products and construction.
Among the names referred to by the book: Reb Moseh Yitzchak Goldschmidt, Avraham and Binyamin Stampfer, Reb Chaim Sonnenfeld, Reb Chaim Hoisdorf, Reb Chaim Zalman [Rivlin?], Reb Eliezer Dan [Ralbag], "For the Rabbi of Brisk [the Maharal Diskin] – for meat and salt".
On one of the leaves, the writer wrote: "… the 2nd of Cheshvan 5667 [1906] I have bought from Reb Leib De'Badatz 401cubits of land …", "the 12th of Cheshvan 5668 [1907] I have sold the estate I had bought".
On the next page he wrote the death dates of his relatives. Among others he refers to the death (in 1921) of Rabbi Avraham Aharon Prague.
On the next page, he describes his two sons, Shmuel Zussman and Eliyahu Yehuda Zussman, leaving Jerusalem.
At the end of the book, he details the birth dates of his sons and their marriages. Then he shortly describes his biography since his birth (in 1864) until 1910. Signed: Shalom Avraham Aryeh Cohen.
Om the last pages, he wrote the dates he had sent letters to his son.
