Emissary Certificate of Chacham Bashi Rabbi Chaim Elchadif of Tiberius – Signatures of Dozens of Rabbis of the City – 1921 – An Impressive Historical Item
A very large certificate that was given to the Shadar (emissary of the rabbis) Rabbi Chaim Elchadif, Chacham Bashi of Tiberius and author of "Yatzev Gevulot" and "Mishpat Va'Tzeddek", the son of Rabbi Bechor Aharon Elchadif. The certificate was written by dozens of the rabbis of Tiberius, who signed it. 1921.
The rabbis describe the difficult financial situation of the city: "Since the outbreak of the war, we have encountered many troubles … and the military law has been our downfall since many young men have joined the army and left their parents, wives and sons and it has been our duty to feed them …".
The document is signed by more than thirty of the rabbis of the city, among them: Rabbi Ya'akov Chai Zaruhan, Rabbi Moshe Yifrach (the Gabai of the Kollelot), Rabbi Yuda Toledano(signature-shaped stamp), Rabbi Ya'akov Vaknin and more.
The certificate was written by an expert scribe and has an impressive frame.
Size of frane: 63x84cm.
The height of the leaf itself: 70cm.
Condition: Good. Many wrinkles. Small tears and flaws. Has not been examined outside the frame.
