Very large collection (which contains hundreds of leaves!) of Halachic responsa by Rabbi Shalom Messas, handwritten by him and typewritten. A significant part of the material is from an early period of his life – when he served as the rabbi of Morocco:
Four responses handwritten and signed by him.
Letter handwritten by him to one of the outstanding rabbis of the generation.
Dozens of responses handwritten by him, with lists and drafts of his Halachic rulings.
A large collection of leaves that served for printing the four parts of his book – the Tevu'ot Shemesh Responsa [Jerusalem, 1979-1981].
The collection contains: Typewritten Halachic responsum [it is well-known that these were typewritten by Rabbi Messas himself], with his handwritten corrections, some with his handwritten signature or stamps (stamps from when he was rabbi of Morocco); photocopies of leaves handwritten by him, with handwritten corrections and additions.
Rabbi Shalom Messas (1909-2003) was one of the greatest Poskim of his times. He served as the Chief Rabbi of Casablanca and authored the books: "Shemesh U'Magen" Responsa, three sections, "Tevu'ot Shemesh" Responsa, four sections and more. In 1978, at the request of Rabbi Ovadya Yosef, he immigrated to Israel and served as the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem until his death in 2003.
Condition: Good.
