Urim Ve'Tumim (Goralot) – Manuscript with an Early, Unknown Historical Preface
The book Urim Ve'Tumim. Manuscript [North Africa, the 19th century?]. most of the leaves of the book contain handwritten charts with letters to cast lots according to the stones of the Choshen.
Sefer Goralot is attributed to "the seventy elders who lived during the days of Ptolemy the first". It was printed for the first time in Dyhrenfurth in 1728 and then many more times.
Before us is a copying of the composition to which was added an important preface that includes historical details about the composition and its discovery. To the best of our knowledge, these details were unknown until now.
Ownership inscriptions of a Jew of Kolkata (India). Handwritten glosses on the side sof the leaves.
39 leaves.
Condition: fair-Good. Some of the leaves are torn. Moth signs, varying between the leaves. Hard binding in good condition.
