Leaves of the Tractates of the Talmud that were Printed in Constantinople and Salonika / Leaves with Corrections and Glosses Handwritten by the Most Prominent rabbis and Torah Scholars
A large collection of leaves removed from a "Binding Genizah".
The collection contains:
Leaves from editions of the Babylonian Talmud (some of them of the Constantinople 1802 edition printed by Chaim Eliyahu Pardo). The Baba Metzi'ah, Berachot and Gittin tractates.
A single Ladino leaf, printed on both its sides, most likely a list of products of an important merchant. [The early 1840's?].
Many leaves are printing attempts from Salonika, the middle 740's. These leaves contain handwritten corrections and glosses – possibly by the authors themselves! The handwritten corrections appear in the final editions [see enclosed photocopies for comparison] Most of the leaves are printed on one of their sides only. On some of them a different composition is printed on each of the sides.
Among the compositions:
Zechor le'Avraham. Salonika, 1798. By Rabbi Avraham Alkalai. Condition: Good.
Yerech Avraham. Salinika, 1815. By Rabbi Chaim Estrosa. On the other side of the leaf, "Drush Nissu'in".
Kidesh Yadid. Salonika, 1812. By Rabbi Yedidya Trika. Several leaves.
Sifrei Dvei Rav. Salonika, 1899. By Rabbi David Pardo.
Shulchan Gavoha. Salonika, 1764, by Rabbi Yosef Molcho.
Ma'archei Lev. Salonika, 1821. By Rabbi Raphael Yosef Chazan.
Condition: Fair-Bad, typical of leaves removed bfrom binding.
