Ha'Hashlama (Paris, 1885) – a Special Copy Printed on Parchment – (of the Library of Baron Ginzburg?]
The book "Ha'Hashlama" of Seder Nezikin, completing "Hilchot Ha'Rif", by Rabbi Meshulam of Badrish, copied from a manuscript of the library of the Baron Ginzburg of Paris. With glosses and commentray titled "Torat Ha'Hashlama" by Rabbi Yehuda Lowtzky. First section, Baba Kama and Baba Metziah. Paris, 1885. First edition. Approbations by the most prominent rabbis.
Before us is an extraordinary copy, possibly the only one in the world, which was printed on parchment! According to the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, there is a single copy on parchment, and it is the one before us.
We assume that this special copy was made in honor of the Baron David Ginzburg, like other copies of books that were published with his support, of which a special copy was made in his honor on parchment.
The copy before us is most impressive with an impressive binding with golden decorations. The spine is also with golden decorations and a golden inscription. In a matching case.
74 leaves.
Condition: Excellent. The two last leaves are printed on paper. According to the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book: "it seem sthat the last two leaves, 73-74, were printed after a stop in the printing. They were printed by the Cerf et Fils printing press of Versailles.
