Check written to R. Y. Z. Soloveitchik with the Brisker Rav’s signed endorsement on the back. Dated May, 20 1958. The donation of $18 was sent by a Talmid Chochom in the U.S whose mother was unwell, with the request that the Brisker Rav daven for her recovery.
R. Yitzchak Zev Ha’Levy Soloveitchik (1886-1959) was of son of R. Chaim Ha’Levy Soloveitchik. Primarily a disciple of his father he was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with outstanding diligence and great piety. He succeeded his father as Rav of Brisk where in addition to his rabbinical duties he taught a small group of exceptional disciples. Following his miraculous escape from Europe during the Holocaust he lived in Yerusholayim where he taught Torah to his sons and a small group of outstanding pupils. Recognized as the one of the preeminent Torah leaders of his era he was held in awe by his rabbinical contemporaries as well as by the masses.
